A KB 13 takes up service in west Africa

In February, we delivered a KB 13 drill rig as part of a unique project. The object had been to supply a unit suitable for nonmetal resource exploration to Mauretania and to familiarize the local operating team with the involved technology.

The presentation of the equipment was appropriately celebrated as part of a ceremonial act, with the secretary-general of the Mauretanian mining ministry attending, as well as the German ambassador in Mauretania, representatives of the OMRG (Office Mauretanien des Recherches Géologique), the German BGR (Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe), and both the Comdrill GmbH and the Kurth GmbH, see BGR website: https://www.bgr.bund.de/DE/Home/homepage_node.html

Auger drilling technology and drilling with casings in soft soils was demonstrated, as well as flush drilling with double core barrels in solid rock. (In order to limit the consumption of valuable water, flushing was performed with the help of a closed circuit 3 trough system.)

The decisive advantage of the KB 13 in applications like these is its versatility and handling ease, which made it easy to instruct the new users as to the unit itself and the drilling technology involved in general.

Now its up to these new users to master the assigned tasks successfully and to recover samples from depths of up to 60 meters.

With the right machine for the job, the capable KB 13, the necessary conditions have been established. We wish the new drill team every success.
